It was established in the year April 2009 subsequent to handing over the said Research Station from Department of Agriculture, Dhadesugur, GOK to University of Agricultural Sciences, Raichur. The station is located on the left bank side of the river Thunga-Bhadhra at an elevation of 380 meters MSL and is categorized as Northern Dry zone (Region - II: Zone – 3) of Karnataka with an average annual rainfall of 630 mm (31 years average).
