The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Hagari was established in January 1995. The main building of Krishi Vigyan Kendra,, Hagari consists of staff rooms, a training hall, a diagnostic lab, soil, water and plant testing lab, and a well furnished information centre. This Krishi Vigyan Kendra, is situated in the campus of Agricultural Research Station, Hagari which is about 14 Kms away from the Bellary city, 224 Kms from Dharwad and 200 Kms from newly carved University of Agricultural Sciences, Raichur.
Achievements
o The IPM technology on cotton was popularized in different cotton growing areas of Bellary, Hospet and Hagari- Bommanahally taluk. o High yielding wilt resistant variety of redgram ICPL-87119/Asha was spread over an area of 1500 ha in Bellary and Hadagali taluk. o Integrated crop management in redgram, cotton, bengalgram, sunflower was popularized through demonstrations in Bellary Dist. o Azolla, a water grown fern is gaining importance among dairy farmers as it can be included at the rate of 5 – 10% in cattle feed. KVK is actively involved in imparting technical know how on Azolla production to extension functionaries of dept of AH & VS and to the needy dairy farmers.
