The Agricultural Research Station, B’gudi is situated in the North-Eastern dry zone of Karnataka (Region II, Zone 2)located between 160 43,N and 760 51 E longitude at an elevation of 411.75 meters above MSL characterized by dry climate with an average annual rainfall of 774.1 mm. The station is about 5 km away from Shahapur town of Yadagir district and is well connected by the state highway 19, connecting Bidar –Bangalore. The nearest broadgage railway stations are Gulbarga (65 km N)and Yadgir (35 km E). Hyderabad is located 150 km NE serving as the nearest international airport. The station has about 400acres of land spread in four blocks. The main block (CADA block) comprising of around 180 acres is mainly used for seed and fodder production. The Shakapur block comprises 13 acres, is used for demonstration of technologies in cotton (like adoption of Resource conservation technologies, environmental impacts of agricultural activities, IPM, ICM, nutrient recycling, crop rotation, IFS etc. The Diggi block comprising 25 acres is used for staff research including development and demonstration of Resource Conservation Technologies in Red gram. The land available (around 20 acres) between main – building and boys hostel is utilized for front line demonstrations, integrated farming system research activities etc.
